Introduction

Kathleen D. Groschupf holds a B.S. from the University of Arizona, Tucson, a M.S. from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, and a Ph.D. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia. A summer project in 1976 evolved into a master's thesis on Five-striped Sparrow vocalizations, and a dissertation on vocalizations of Aimophila sparrows. Her other research interests include species' relationships within Aimophila and the natural history of Varied Bunting in Arizona. She is the senior author of The Birds of North America account for Varied Bunting, and co-author of the account for Rufous-winged Sparrow. In 2004, Kathleen D. Groschupf moved with her husband, Frank M. Baucom, to a 17-acre property in southeastern Arizona, "TimBuckTwo", where she continues to study and publish her observations of birds and other fauna.
